Thank you very much for choosing to come in such a cold night.Today my topic is about choice and process.A research shows that a man has to make 73 choices one day.With so many choices one day, people easily get so confused and afraid of making wrong choice that they hesitate and finally miss the true part of life. In my opinion, the following part is of much more importance than the choice. There is no absolute right or wrong choice but wonderful or boring life, which the process makes the difference.
Life is a box of chocolate,you never know what you will get. Forrest Gump made no decision by and for himself but he accomplished great success with his strong will in the process. The process is not the road itself but the attitudes and feelings ,the caution, courage and persistance we have as we encounter new experience and unexpected obstacles. Take myself as an example, I changed my major when I became a postgraduate. After the choice,days have been harsh for me.I cannot understand the new lessons at all. For they are closely related to mathmatics which I learned nothing about before. However wuth the belief that this is the great chance for me to experience new ideas and challenge myself,I persisted. I asked for help from every channel and reorgonized my life. Gradually I could understand some parts and even found maths interesting.Moreover, I learned to act instead of complaining. In retrospect,the choice left no trace in my mind but the happiness and bitterness of the past four months becomes an unforgetable experience in my life.

when you walking along a street ， an inevitable phenomenon you will find is that lots of shops or markets are selling their goods at a discount ; when you visting a countryside ，an evident situation you will discover is that many workers are staying in their hometown . why ? that’s because the financial crisis that originated on wall street and swept the world has gone beyond the toy sector and bitten into the chinese economy. over the past six months，many labor-intensive factories have shut down ，leaving massive numbers of workers jobless . although our government have taken some effective measures to stimulate the need of employment ， we also can’t deny the fact that the situation is still serious . according to expects ， china’s gdp growth slowed to 9.9 percent down 2.3 percentage points from the same period lastyear and falling to single figures for the first time in five years .
as a college students ，i can’t be more sensitive to the essential meanings behind thesenumbers ，basing on expects ， the graduates in this year are more than 5 millions ， to my surprise ，there are exceed 1 million can’t find position . so it seems very important for us college students to consider what should we do in the intensely competitive society ， particularly during this special background---international financial crisis .
from my own perspective ，we should do three things as follows :
in the first instance ， we should turn an objective attitude towards the encironment and ourselves . although we college students used to be the "most-favored "people in society ，we have received a higher education ，hance we are more intelligent and knowledgeable than our countparts who failed to attend college . society is developing in a very high pace and becoming more and more advanced ， so we shoule know our own strengths and weaknesses and have the right attitude towards ourselves and the job vacancies ，in addition ，we should not attach too much importance to material aspects of the job .
secondly ，we should have great ambition towards our future . ambitions are like the stars---we never reach them ，but like mariners ，we chart our course by them . no matter the successful merchant or official or scientist ，they have an idential personality---ambition . on the surfaceof the globe financial crisis ， it brings the pessmisitic economic situations ， but it still can’t prevent a person who have great ambition achieving his goals . just like george bernard shaw said :"people always blaming their circumstance ， the people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstance s they want ，and ，if they can’t find them ，make them."

The exploration of nature waits for no man. So, are we ready to embrace the new era and new challenges? When I was a kid, professor Hawking was known to me as the author of A Brief History of Time. I bought a lot of science books back then, but they were really difficult to understand. Whenever I stumbled, I would turn to my physics teacher for help. We would go through pages and pages of materials together, whether it was middle school stuff or Feynman’s lecture from Caltech, sometimes hours on end. I felt like we were tearing off the mask of nature and staring at the face of god. It was his guidance that encouraged me to study physics today. We’re living in an era in which science is embedded in people’s lives. From teachers who pass on knowledge, to construction workers who build labs; from organizations that provide funding, to scientists who conduct research, we all contribute to science in our own unique ways. We the people say we’re ready.
On October 5th, 20xx, China finally had its first Nobel Prize in natural science. Ms. Tu Youyou’s work and her receiving the most prestigious science award made us proud. We’re living in an era in which China is building some of the best research projects and institutions worldwide. Just a month ago, Professor Zhang Miman won the UNESCO for Women in Science Award, making her the fifth Chinese recipient of this honor. A week after that, The Economist referred to China as “a continent-sized rapidly growing economy with a culture of scientific inquiry”. Physicist and vice president of the Chinese Academy of Science, Dr. Zhang Jie stated, “China now has the most accurate, sufficient and largest amount of data; China has the highest, fastest and best ability of data analysis. The Chinese government will be strongly pushing for the sharing and utilization of data resources.” We as a country say we’re ready.
Science is an immortal topic of mankind. We’ve come this far because we’ve learned to work together and let the ideas evolve. The dispute over the completeness of quantum mechanics, for example, was resolved in the 5th Solvay conference, attended by 29 physicists from 10 different countries who have won 15 Nobel Prizes combined. That was almost 100 years ago. Now we’re living in an era in which information is transmitted at the speed of light, in which “International cooperation” is not just a slogan anymore, especially to the scientific community. Chinese Academy of Science now has 47 partners overseas. The International Council for Science now includes 122 national members, 23 scientific associates and 31 scientific unions. The facilities of the European Organization for Nuclear Research, or CERN, are available to over 600 universities and institutes around the globe. We, the world, are more than ready. We’re all made of particles that have existed since the beginning of the universe, I’d like to believe those particles traveled through countless eras to create us, so that we, the people, China, and the world, can stand on the shoulders of giants, march into the new era with our head held high, and make people like Professor Hawking proud.

When we are preparing to get wed, one thing we should decide is where we will live after the wedding. Ideally, this should be taken care of before we get married so that we can settle down and start our married life more smoothly.
Should we rent a house with our companion or buy a new one? There’s really no right answer. There are no clear cut formulas to establish whether it is better to own a house during our marriage life. A lot of it depends on finance preparedness, the quality of our relationship with each other, and other things.
Today, getting married in China is not an easy thing. “No house, no marriage” has been very popular in the society.
According to the "Survey Report Chinese Marriage Status of 20xx" released on Dec 15, 20xx, about 70 percent of women said that housing, stable income and some savings were the main requirements for marriage. From the report, we can see that housing is on the top among the factors.
Personality and morals lay beyond the top three requirements. However “No house, no marriage” has been a phenomenon different from other countries.
Next, let’s take a look at the situation overseas.
In Japan, renting has been a custom for newly married young couples. Few can afford to purchase property. Up to 67.1 percent of young couples choose to rent, and merely 14.3 percent of the group buy a house for marriages. Generally speaking, most buyers are older than 40 in Japan.
In Europe, it is reported that there are many people who live in rented houses all their lives and they don’t feel it is a bad thing. In Berlin, 70 percent people choose to rent, only 30 percent adults choose to buy a house. Journalists have surveyed that the average age of Europeans to
buy their first house in Belgium is 41-year-old, in France 38 years old, in Germany 40 years old. Finally, they concluded that the average age is 40 years old.
For many Americans, housing troubles don't pose any obstacle to marriage. They often buy a house after the wedding, because more and more people are reconsidering their real estate problem, and going back to a more rational mode of consumption.
In my opinion，it is not necessary to buy a house before we get married. First, if we choose to buy a house, it will increase our economic burden, leading the constraint of our marriage life. Second, it will impose restrictions to the development of our career if we spend most of our salaries on mortgaging a house. Last but not least, we will feel guilt if our parent can’t enjoy a happy life in their later years because their saving were spent on buying a flat for us. Above all, young people should be free to enjoy being young, without the huge pressure of trying to buy houses.

We have 15 billion dollars in gold in our treasury; wedon't own an ounce. Foreign dollar claims are 27.3 billion dollars. And we'vejust had announced that the dollar of 1939 will now purchase 45 cents in itstotal value.
As for the peace that we would preserve, I wonder who among us would liketo approach the wife or mother whose husband or son has died in South Vietnamand ask them if they think this is a peace that should be maintainedindefinitely. Do they mean peace, or do they mean we just want to be left inpeace? There can be no real peace while one American is dying some place in theworld for the rest of us. This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity forself-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that alittle intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for usbetter than we can plan them ourselves.
You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right.Well I'd like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right.
